Compatibilty

The Trigger Kicker was designed for use with AR-15 rifles equipped with mil-spec bolt carriers and standard semi-automatic fire control components, commonly known as “mil-spec” fire control groups. It is critical that these parts are used, as many after market hammers, triggers, and safety selectors will not be compatible. Please use the images below to verify you have the proper parts.

Compatible Triggers. Note the common disconnector slot.
Compatible Safety Selectors. Note the common central drum and ninety degree throw.

Some imported or cheap safety selectors may be too soft to resist normal locking forces: If you have wear issues it is best to swap out for another selector. This is rare, but worth watching out for. All selectors tested from reputable manufactures are properly hardened.

The hammer is particularly critical, and the easiest to get wrong. The Trigger Kicker was designed to work with semi-auto hammers, not demilled fully-automatic hammers. Demilled hammers have the auto sear ground off, and can be identified by the smooth rear surface. This ground surface is lower than the as-cast semi-auto hammers and will likely result in malfunction. The full radius on the tip of the as-cast hammer as apposed to the cut away radius of the demilled hammer is a great way to spot the difference. Use the images below to identify your hammer.

Though almost identical, only the front hammer is compatible. Note the ground rear surface rear hammer.
Note the rear surface of the hammer, the left is compatible while the ground surface on the right is not.

The bolt carrier must not be demilled like bottom carrier in the image below. Rather a mil-spec carrier is required. The trip surface on the belly of the carrier should align with the opening on the top of the carrier. If it is cut to the rear the carrier is not compatible with the Trigger Kicker.

Note the alignment of the trip surface with the upper opening on the compatible (top) bolt carrier.

Lastly it should be understood that the Trigger Kicker was designed for use with the AR-15 rifle, not any firearm utilizing an AR-15 fire control group. The AR-9, LR-308, KF-5, and bufferless uppers are not immediately compatible with the Trigger Kicker.

INSTALLATION

The Trigger Kicker replaces the disconnector in the AR-15 fire control group. Installation is as easy as removing the disconnector and disconnector spring, and replacing them with the trigger kicker. This video walks through the process step by step:
